Former members of the West Virginia Thunder play basketball with a unique spin, and for them it is more than just a game. Amy Humphrey races down the basketball court like a pro, she's part of a recreational wheelchair basketball league supported by the Charleston Park and Recreation Department. Amy and her teammates say they would like to play more than just once a week, but lost their place to practice and the equipment when the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center closed last year. Now they are trying to re-start the traveling basketball team. At the teams height the team placed 4th in the nation. They hope spreading the word about wheelchair basketball will get them not only sponsors and donations but inspire others to play and realize their full potential. For more information on wheelchair basketball and how to help the team you can contact their coach, B.J. Taylor at 304-419-7272.
