Charleston's Black Ministerial Alliance announced Friday they will not take part in a march for Megan Williams on November 3rd. Many local community and religious leaders feel that they have been left out of the process by organizers.
Black Ministerial Alliance Reverane, L.A. Hill, says, " We've been there from the beginning . We were there before Mr. Shabazz came to the city. We've been there all along. Our thoughts are: We don't need anybody coming inform the outside to do that which is our responsibility, and that's why we're here. "
The Black Ministerial Alliance, which represents about 30 churches, is urging its congregations not to march on November 3rd. They will be holding their own rally for Williams, with her father's blessing. Bishop James Carter, who was working with controversial march organizer, Malik Shabbaz, is out now of the march too.
John Shabazz, an investigator for Black Lawyers for Justice, says a new organization, Black Unity Coalition, will become involved with the march on November 3rd. The group is known to have a broader base in the African-American community.
