CHARLESTON, W. Va. (Kera Mashek) The Kanawha County school board is dropping a proposal to start a dress code for teachers.

The dress code would've given school principals the power to limit the days teachers could wear blue jeans. There would've also been restrictions on t-shirts, tattoos, piercings, and even facial hair. The dress code was supposed to go before the school board for a vote Thursday night, but has been taken off the agenda due to a "lack of interest".

West Virginia teacher unions were strongly opposed to the policy.

However, the school board isn't ruling out bringing the policy back up for debate in the fall.
