Engineering, Technology Help Make South Charleston High "Cool School"
November 8, 2013

At South Charleston High School, students think it is "cool" to embrace technology and study such advanced courses as engineering. The school's approach prompted Eyewitness News to recognize South Charleston as a "Cool School."

Meteorologist Brandon Stover visited the school Friday morning to check out its offerings. Students and teachers representing the engineering, technology, Chinese language and international baccalaureate programs were there to explain why their programs are successful and how they benefit the student body.

One of the cooler projects was the satellite project by the technology class. The class is trying to become the first high school program ever to launch a satellite into space. The engineering class also presented its projects, which included a catapult and some model cars.

The event began at 6 a.m. and wrapped up about 8 a.m.

Next week, "Cool Schools" will be visiting Cross Lanes Elementary.
