Pies and Pints Pizzeria in Charleston received three critical and five non-critical violations.

Health inspectors said the cutting board was scored. They also witnessed a dirty ice machine and can opener. Pies and Pints Pizzeria received a good rating.

Grano, a South Charleston eatery, had two critical violations and 11 non-critical. Inspectors said utensils weren't being sanitized for a long enough time while in the dishwasher. They also said the can opener blade was filthy. Grano cleaned up and got a good rating.

The Clean Kitchen of the Week Award goes to Ellen's Homemade Ice Cream in Charleston. The ice cream shop serves 12 flavors of ice cream, in addition to specialty flavors, sherbert, gelato and sorbet.

Garrett Hughes, a chef at the ice cream shop, said the frozen treats fly out the door, especially since the weather heated up.

"We basically make ice cream Mondays and Tuesdays, 40-60 gallons each day," Garrett said. "We keep it rotating out every single day, new flavors, new choices and just trying to ask customers what they like."

Garrett said Espresso Oreo and Raspberry Chocolate Chip ice cream are fan favorites.

Ellen's Homemade Ice Cream will feature two new flavors during Festivall, Lemon Zestivall gelato and Charleston Crunch ice cream.

The ice cream shop also sells soups, salads and wraps.
