Kyle Chandler Kyle Chandler, who is quickly emerging as one of today's most versatile and hard-working actors, plays Joan Gallagher's boyfriend, Jake, on the new ABC comedy series with Joan Cusack, "What About Joan."

Mr. Chandler spent much of his childhood in a suburb of Chicago before moving with his family to Loganville, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. Shortly after receiving his B.A. in theater from the University of Georgia, he was cast in three television movies: "Quiet Victory: The Charlie Weidermeyer Story," "Unconquered" and "Home Fires Burning." Pursued by ABC Television, Mr. Chandler was brought to Los Angeles as part of a program to develop young talent, almost immediately securing work in television and film.

Television appearances include the ABC miniseries "Heaven and Hell: North and South Book Three," "Tour of Duty" and "China Beach." However it was his portrayal of Jeff Metcalf in the critically acclaimed ABC series "Homefront" which won Mr. Chandler his highest praises and gained him national recognition. He subsequently appeared in the television movies "Convict Cowboy," with Jon Voight, "Sleep, Baby, Sleep" and the pilot "The Pastor's Wife," by David E. Kelley. Most recently Mr. Chandler starred in the CBS drama "Early Edition," also serving as producer and director of the series during the last season.

Mr. Chandler's acting pursuits have also led him to successful roles in feature films, including "The Color of Evening," with Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn, "Pure Country," "Mulholland Falls" and "Angel's Dance."

His theater credits include turns in "Macbeth," "Devil's Disciple," "Our Town," "Oklahoma," "HMS Pinafore" and "The Comedy of Errors." In 1994 Mr. Chandler received critical recognition for his Broadway appearance as Hal Carter in The Roundabout Theatre's production of "Picnic," with Ashley Judd.

Mr. Chandler currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter. In addition to acting, Mr. Chandler enjoys horseback riding, hiking, scuba diving, water and snow skiing and motorcycling. He is also skilled in hunting, archery, fencing and mime.
