Rebecca Gayheart
Sam on Wasteland

Rebecca Gayheart photo After having successfully tackled starring roles in theater, film and television, Rebecca Gayheart has become one of the most sought-after young actresses in Hollywood.

Gayheart recently made her stage debut playing Sunny Freitag in the Los Angeles production of Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play, "The Last Night of Ballyhoo," opposite Rhea Perlman. Rebecca won a Back Stage West Garland Award for her performance.

Her most recent appearances on the big screen include two features for Columbia/TriStar: The black comedy, "Jawbreaker," opposite Rose McGowan and Pam Grier; and the thriller, "Urban Legend," opposite Jared Leto. Rebecca has recently completed roles in Miramax's "Hangman's Daughter" and the independent "Hair Shirt," with Neve Campbell.

Gayheart was raised in Pine Top, Kentucky, not far from her birthplace of Hazard, Kentucky. She has two sisters and a brother and is a mix of Italian, Irish, German and Cherokee. Her mother sells a nationally known line of cosmetics and her father is a coal miner. After spending a summer in New York modeling, Gayheart moved to the Big Apple at age 15 to finish her high school education at the city's Professional Children's School.

Gayheart went on to study at the Lee Strasberg Institute for two-and-a-half years. Midway through her second term, she became a cast regular on the daytime drama, "Loving," playing the role of Hannah.

Rebecca made her movie debut in Touchstone's "Nothing to Lose," opposite Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence, followed by "Scream 2." Other credits include Robin Cook's miniseries, "Invasion"; the independent film, "Somebody Is Waiting," opposite Gabriel Byrne and Nastassja Kinski; and the television series, "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Earth 2" and "Vanishing Son." She has also appeared in the film short, "What Happened to Mason Reese?," directed by Brett Ratner; and music videos for Heavy D and Jodeci. Rebecca gained national recognition as "the Noxzema Girl" and Clairol's "Glintz Girl.
