Dylan McDermott Bobby Donnell on "The Practice"
Whether a gunslinger, army grunt, murdering villain, obsessed writer or romantic leading man, Dylan McDermott brings a recognizable presence and quiet intensity to his body of work.McDermott has racked up an impressive list of film credits, including "Home for the Holidays," directed by Jodie Foster and co-starring Holly Hunter and Robert Downey, Jr.; the John Hughes 1994 remake of "Miracle on 34th Street," co-starring Elizabeth Perkins and renowned director Richard Attenborough; "The Cowboy Way," opposite Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland; and "In the Line of Fire," as Clint Eastwood's Secret Service partner. Born in Connecticut and raised in New York City, Dylan McDermott first developed an interest in acting in high school, due partly to the encouragement of his stepmother, Eve Ensler. A talented playwright, Ensler convinced him his natural talent could lead to a professional acting career. One of McDermott's first appearances on the stage, in fact, came during the production of Ensler's original play, "Scooncat." Earning his drama degree at Fordham University, McDermott joined the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, where he seized the chance to study under acting legend Sanford Meisner. His first professional role came as Wykowski Selridge in Neil Simon's Broadway production of "Biloxi Blues." McDermott currently maintains residences with his wife and daughter in both New York and Los Angeles. VITAL STATISTICS
