Hill Harper in The Court Hill Harper starred opposite Billy Dee Williams, Phylicia Rashad, Marla Gibbs, Talia Shire and Rae Dawn Chong in the acclaimed independent feature film "The Visit," garnering him an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Harper was also awarded the prestigious Emerging Artist Award at last year's Chicago Film Festival.

He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a bachelor of arts degree, and graduated with a J.D. (cum laude) from Harvard Law School and a master's degree in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government. He was a full-time member of Boston's Black Folks Theater Company, one of the nation's oldest and most respected African-American traveling theatre troupes.

Harper appears in the independent boxing comedy "Box Marley," co-starring Tom Arnold, Tommy Davidson and writer/director Christopher Scott Cherot. Other screen credits include: "Loving Jezebel"; "The Nephew," produced by and starring Pierce Brosnan; "The Skulls," opposite Joshua Jackson; "In Too Deep," with Omar Epps, LL Cool J and Nia Long; Jonathan Demme's acclaimed feature film, "Beloved"; "Hav' Plenty"; and Spike Lee's "He Got Game" and "Get on the Bus." He also appeared in Showtime's "Zooman" and "One Red Rose," which he co-wrote.


In series television, Harper starred in the Steven Bochco medical drama "City of Angels," opposite Blair Underwood, earning an Image Award nomination. He was also featured in the miniseries "Mama Flora's Family." Other television credits include a series starring role on the comedy/drama "Live Shot," as well as guest appearances on such series as "ER," "NYPD Blue," "Murder One," "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Married... with Children."

Harper's stage credits include the off-Broadway productions of "Your Handsome Captain," "Freeman" and David Mamet's "American Buffalo." He recently completed the run of Jessica Hagedorn's "Dogeaters" at New York's Joseph Papp Public Theatre.
