Peter Riegert Ted Fisher on The Beast
Peter Riegert has established himself as one of the busiest actors in show business, with numerous roles in film, television and theater.Born in the Bronx, Riegert grew up in Ardsley, New York, and attended the University of Buffalo. He began his movie career in the short film "A Director Talks About His Films," in which he starred and produced. After appearing in such films as "Animal House" and "Chilly Scenes of Winter," he gained critical notice for his role in the 1983 "Local Hero," opposite Burt Lancaster. His other notable films include "Crossing Delancey," with Amy Irving, "The Mask," with Jim Carrey, "A Shock to the System," with Michael Caine, "A Man in Love," with Peter Coyote and "Utz," with Paul Scofield, Brenda Fricker and Armin Mueller-Stahl. He was most recently seen as an attorney in director Steven Soderbergh's film, "Traffic." He also directed the short film, "By Courier," based on an O'Henry story, in which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. On television Riegert has appeared in a wide variety of series and movies, including a recurring role in "The Sopranos," the final episode of "Seinfeld," the musical "Gypsy," opposite Bette Midler, and such TV films as "Barbarians at the Gate," "The Baby Dance," "Bojangles" and "Ellis Island." His stage work has included roles in New York productions of "The Old Neighborhood," "An American Daughter" and "Dance With Me." He's also starred in several off-Broadway productions such as "Road To Nirvana," "The Birthday Party" and "Sexual Perversity in Chicago."
