Peter Krause Casey McCall on Sports Night
In addition to his starring role in "Sports Night," Peter Krause can currently be seen in Paramount Pictures' summer blockbuster, "The Truman Show," starring Jim Carrey and directed by Peter Weir. He has also starred in two independent films, "Lovelife" and "My Engagement Party," which are set for release this year. Peter made his television debut as a series regular on Carol Burnett's hit variety show, "Carol & Company." Other regular television roles include "The Great Defender," "If Not For You," and long-suffering son-in-law Kevin on the hit series, "Cybill." His many guest appearances include "Seinfeld," "Third Rock From the Sun," "The Drew Carey Show," "Caroline in the City," "Ellen" and "Party of Five."His parents still reside in his hometown of Minneapolis, where Peter grew up as one of three children. Following four years at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota (from which he earned an English Lit degree), he moved to New York City and completed the prestigious New York University MFA Acting Program. He considers the training he received there to be his first big break -- he landed the role in "Carol & Company" only two months after graduation. During his years in New York, Peter supplemented his income by tending bar. At the Palace Theater, he shared those duties with an aspiring playwright, Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin asked him to participate in a reading for a play about marines. Being very serious about acting at NYU at that time, Peter passed. The play eventually made it to Broadway and later the big screen as "A Few Good Men." Fortunately, when given another opportunity to audition for Sorkin, now executive producer of "Sports Night," Peter took it. A skilled gymnast (his specialties were the pommel horse and rings), Peter has also recently taken up golf. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
