Victoria Dillard
Janelle on Spin City

Victoria Dillard photo As the right-hand woman to the Mayor's right-hand man, Victoria Dillard's character, Janelle, keeps Michael J. Fox's Mike Flaherty on time and on top of his game. This season, Janelle becomes a regular in the "Spin City" cast lineup and viewers will see her get a promotion to become the Mayor's assistant. In addition to her work on "Spin City," Victoria also starred in the telefilm, "The Ditchdigger's Daughter," for the Family Channel last season, receiving raves.

This versatile actress was born and raised in New York City and began performing at the age of five with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. She worked with the company until she was eighteen, appearing in such productions as "Porgy and Bess" at the Metropolitan Opera. Then she went on tour with Mickey Rooney in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." When the run ended in California, she was cast in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," playing a crew member, and got her union card.

After that first television show, she performed in George Schlatter's new version of "Laugh-In" as the Goldie Hawn character, and performed opposite James Earl Jones and Eddie Murphy in her first feature film, "Coming to America." In addition to "The Ditchdigger's Daughter," her other television credits include "Seinfeld," "L.A. Law," "Roc," "Martin," and the movie, "Murder in Mississippi."

Victoria's most memorable professional role to date was playing the wife of Denzel Washington's character in "Ricochet." "He really taught me a lot about the process," she says, and adds that she remains friends with most of the cast members from that film. Victoria's other film credits include "The Glass Shield," "Internal Affairs," "Deep Cover," "Albert" and "Out of Sync."

Victoria maintains a home in Los Angeles, but for her role in "Spin City," she resides in New York. She still dances in her free time, and also writes screenplays and plays for the stage.
