Connie Britton Nikki Faber on Spin City
As Nikki, the office accountant with a star-crossed dating life, Connie Britton showcases her comedic flair as well as her character's ability to prevail amid a testosterone-filled City Hall. Connie first gained critical acclaim with her portrayal of Molly, the luminous wife of a cheating husband in Ed Burns' "The Brothers McMullen," which went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. Her latest feature film, "Long Time, Nothing New," reunites her with director Burns and will open in early 1998. Her co-stars include Jon Bon Jovi and Lauren Holly.Connie was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and relocated to Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of seven with her family, including her fraternal twin sister. Her parents applauded her theatrical efforts while she was growing up, and encouraged her to continue her acting in college at Dartmouth while majoring in Asian studies. She even spent a term in Beijing learning Chinese. "Practically, it never comes in handy, not even in a Chinese restaurant," she says. "But I'm so glad I did it, because it's important for an actress to have an extensive vision of the world." Upon graduation she moved to New York, where she spent two years at the Neighborhood Playhouse studying with Sanford Meisner, and an additional two years performing in regional theater and off-Broadway productions. After the success of "The Brothers McMullen," Connie moved to Los Angeles and quickly signed with an agent. During that year, she worked on "Ellen" as Paige's too-perfect sister, as well as pilots and movies for television. In her free time, the bi-coastal actress loves to hike, bike, run and do volunteer work. She resides in New York and Los Angeles with her cat, MacDougal.
