Desmond Harrington
Wylie Blake on Sons & Daughters

Desmond Harrington Born in Savannah, Georgia, Desmond Harrington grew up in the Bronx. As a child he was the class clown, a hyperactive kid who found himself being reprimanded constantly. After high school, he went to college for six weeks, worked construction for six months, cold-called at a brokerage firm for three months, worked at a deli for three weeks and did landscaping for three days. He was a model of stability.

Harrington decided he needed to leave the Bronx, and so began another list of jobs at various restaurants in Manhattan. However it was during this time that he was invited to a co-worker's acting class. He went and loved it, and ended up studying with Ed Kovens and John Strassberg.

After the usual period of trying and failing to get his foot in the door, Harrington finally found representation and began auditioning. His first role came when he was cast in Luc Besson's "The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc," opposite Milla Jovovich, Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich. Since then he has been seen in "My First Mister," opposite Albert Brooks and Leelee Sobieski, for Paramount Classics; "The Hole," opposite Kiera Knightly and Thora Birch; Sony Pictures' "Riding in Cars with Boys," opposite Drew Barrymore and Brittany Murphy, for director Penny Marshall; and Warner Bros.' "Ghost Ship," opposite Gabriel Byrne and Julianna Margulies, produced by Joel Silver.

Harrington's TV credits include "L.A. Dragnet," opposite Eva Longoria and Ed O'Neill, produced by Dick Wolf for ABC; "Wrong Turn," opposite Jeremy Sisto and Eliza Dushku and released by Fox New Regency; "Three Way Split" for Columbia Tri Star; "Love Object" for Content Films, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival; "Taken," the Emmy Award-winning Dreamworks miniseries produced by Steven Spielberg; and "Bottoms Up," opposite Jay Mewes and Kevin Smith.

Harrington currently lives in Los Angeles in a one-bedroom apartment, opposite his dog, Etta. He is still hyperactive and is reprimanded constantly.
