The brilliant comedic talents of award-winning actress Roseanne Barr have distinguished her as one of the funniest women on television. Her ability to elevate her life experiences to a heightened comedy level, and by so doing, bravely challenge television's status quo, has been unparalleled.

She established her distinctive comic persona as the star, writer and producer of her hit TV show, "Roseanne." The series enjoyed a highly successful nine-year run on ABC and redefined the way middle-class American families are portrayed on television. Immediately after "Roseanne" finished its run in May 1997, Roseanne starred for six weeks in the Madison Square Garden production of "The Wizard of Oz."

In addition to winning several industry awards including a Peabody, an Emmy Award, two Golden Globes, six People's Choice Awards, the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, a GLAAD Media Award and many more, she also received the distinguished Humanitas Award which recognizes programming that most truly communicates human values to their audience. Roseanne was also only the second woman ever to be roasted by the Friars Club.

Roseanne grew up in a working class Jewish family in Salt Lake City, UT. After dropping out of high school and becoming a teen-aged wife, she moved to the Colorado mountains and lived in an artists' colony. While working as a waitress, her hysterical comments to customers gave rise to comedic aspirations. Using her hilarious view of life as a working class woman as her act, she gained instant recognition from the locals and quickly became the Queen of Denver Comedy. She then toured nationally on the comedy circuit. Comedians Louie Anderson and Sam Kinison encouraged Roseanne to audition for Mitzi Shore, owner of the Comedy Store. She was instantly hired. The same week she was spotted by a talent scout from "The Tonight Show." Her appearances on "The Tonight Show" and other Late-Night talk shows led to her own HBO special.

Roseanne's television movie credits include "Backfield in Motion." Her feature film credits include "Blue in the Face" for Miramax Films, "Meet Wally Sparks" with Rodney Dangerfield, "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" with Uma Thurman, John Waters' "Cecil B. Demented," "She Devil," co-starring with Meryl Streep, and "15 Minutes", among others.

Roseanne's autobiographies, "Roseanne My Life as a Woman" and "My Lives" (published in 1994) established her as a No.-1 best-selling author, and she also hosted her own talk show for Kingworld for two very successful seasons.

Roseanne remains actively involved in her own production company, Full Moon High Tide Productions. She recently set up The Roseanne Foundation, a non-profit organization raising funds to develop and support programs with practical solutions for dealing with the effects of child abuse.
