Marie Wilson
Dr. Karen Wexler on Port Charles

Marie Wilson photo Marie Wilson plays the heart-warming Dr. Karen Wexler, a role she took over in June, 1999. Intelligent, talented and driven, Karen struggles with her addictions of the past and the overwhelming demands of work at General Hospital. A proven physician, she focuses on her patients' needs instead of her own. Having learned a hard lesson, Karen has let go of her fears and delved into a new relationship with Frank Scanlon, the older brother of her one-time fiancé, Joe Scanlon. Believing that all dreams come true, Frank and Karen have lived a fairytale existence that can only happen once in a lifetime, but multiple times in a century.

One of three daughters, Ms. Wilson was born in Greece and raised in Toronto, Canada. She took ballet, tap and jazz lessons for 10 years, which gave her the discipline necessary for future endeavors. After graduating from school, Ms. Wilson traveled throughout Europe while modeling and appearing in more than 100 commercials. She has appeared in such noted publications as Glamour, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Shape and YM.

When the time was right, Ms. Wilson continued her career with a move to California and immersed herself in acting. Her television credits include "And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story," "Destiny" and "Baywatch." She was also a series regular in the cyber-drama series "The Spot," and appeared in an independent feature entitled "Discovery Daisy."

In March of 2001, the Entertainment Industry Council honored Ms. Wilson with a Prism Award nomination for her honest portrayal of a struggling, rehabilitated drug addict.

An animal charity supporter, Ms. Wilson is a member of the Humane Society of the United States, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Tree People. She resides in Southern California with her husband, daughter and shepherd-collie mix, Sierra.
