Thorsten Kaye Dr. Ian Thornhart on Port Charles
Thorsten Kaye joined the cast of "Port Charles" as Irish doctor Ian Thornhart, a compassionate and intriguing man who came to Port Charles to heal his wounded spirit. After joining the General Hospital staff, Dr. Thornhart immediately became the center of controversy. His hard work ethic and dedication to underprivileged patients initiated the opening of a clinic and quickly began winning the heart of the already married Dr. Eve Lambert-Collins. Now, after overcoming many near-deaths, temporary amnesia and marriage to another woman, Ian and Eve have finally come together to create the family of their dreams. Mr. Kaye is best known to ABC Daytime fans as irresistible poet Patrick Thornhart of "One Life to Live," a role he played from 1995-97. He has also worked in a number of television series, including "Sliders," "Law & Order," "Nothing Lasts Forever" and "Air America." Mr. Kaye has appeared on the London stage in such plays as "The Winter's Tale," "Love for Love" and "Tartuffe." A seasoned Shakespearean actor, he has performed in numerous theatrical productions, including "Macbeth," "Much Ado About Nothing," "Hamlet," "Love's Labour's Lost," "Twelfth Night" and "The Taming of the Shrew." After working with David Worth ("Bloodsport") in the film "The Prophet's Game" -- starring Dennis Hopper -- Mr. Kaye re-teamed with the director in the thriller "Shark Attack II." He has also appeared in the feature films "The Silencers," "Deadly Desire" and "The Bone Collector." An avid rugby player, Mr. Kaye played throughout Europe before enrolling in graduate school at Wayne State University. Upon earning his master's degree in theater and theater history, he joined the Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company in Detroit. He has also published a book of original poetry, entitled "From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens," with Dorothy Bridges, widow of actor Lloyd Bridges. Proceeds from the book, which accompanied a CD release of the same name, go to Give Kids the World, a charity for sick children. Need to write?
