Rib was born in Suffern, New York, and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, with his parents, two sisters and brother. He picked up his unusual nickname (his given name is Robert) while in the third grade playing with frogs, and enjoying the sounds that they make.

During his junior year at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Rib was discovered by a modeling agent. After graduation, Rib traveled to Paris where he landed various print campaigns such as Versace, Armani and Catalyst Cologne. Upon returning to the U.S., Rib came to Los Angeles during the spring of 1996 and landed a role on an episode of "Baywatch Nights" and a Braun commercial.

Rib is thrilled to be a part of "Port Charles" and describes it as a dream come true.
