With a handful of diverse film and television roles, Tom Everett Scott has developed a reputation as one of the industry's most versatile young actors.A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Tom graduated from Syracuse University and began his acting career with a guest appearance on "Law & Order." He then won the recurring role of the 17-year-old son whom Grace (Brett Butler) had earlier given up for adoption on ABC's hit sitcom "Grace Under Fire." Scott was most recently seen starring in the television drama series "The $treet," and was part of the ensemble for the movie "The Boiler Room," with Ben Affleck and Giovanni Ribisi. Prior to that he had a wide variety of different roles, including in "Dead Man on Campus," "One True Thing," with Meryl Streep and Renee Zelwegger, "The Love Letter," opposite Kate Capshaw and Ellen DeGeneres, and "Inherit the Wind," opposite George C. Scott and Jack Lemmon. Other films credits include the independent film "River Red," which received rave reviews at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival -- and for which Scott served as both star and producer -- and "Top of the Food Chain," another independent, opposite Campbell Scott. Inspired by such repertory theater companies as The Wooster Group and Steppenwolf, Scott and several friends teamed up to launch aTheaterCo, a New York-based theater group focusing on original works. As a matter of fact, it was through aTheaterCo that Scott became involved with "River Red" which he initially directed on stage.
