John Hannah once worked as an electrician in Scotland. One of the brightest acting talents to emerge in recent years, he starred opposite Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in "The Mummy" and the "The Mummy Returns," and is now shooting the title role of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" in London.

Hannah was most recently seen in "Pandaemonium," "Circus" -- in which he starred opposite Famke Jansen -- and "The Hurricane," opposite Denzel Washington.

He starred opposite Gwyneth Paltlrow in "Sliding Doors," and won the Scottish BAFTA as Best Actor for his role in "Four Weddings and a Funeral." He also won the Best Actor award at the Stockholm Film Festival for his role in "Madagascar Skin."

Other films include "The James Gang," "Resurrection Man" and "Truth or Dare," directed by John Madden.

Hannah is familiar to U.K. television audiences for his lead role in "McCallum," the popular Scottish series. He has also performed in the BBC's "Rebus."

A stage veteran, Hannah studied for three years at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He has appeared on stage in "Miss Julie," "Somewhere," "The Gorbals Story," "The Philanthopist," "Voyage of the Dawn Treader," "Macbeth," "The Daughter-in-law," "A Bright Light Shining," "Ballad of the Wolves," in "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "Bad Company" at the National Theater Company, and in "Silent Woman" and "A Clockwork Orange" at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Hannah lives in London with his wife, British actress Joanna Roth.
