Sam Anderson Bill on Married to the Kellys
Sam Anderson's gallery of film and television characters includes such diverse roles as the lecherous school principal in "Forrest Gump," the arrogant Dr. Kayson on "ER," Donna's racist dad in "La Bamba," the evil Holland Manners on "Angel" and the tortured father on "Boomtown." Other films include "Slackers," "The Independent," Robert Heinlein's "Puppet Masters" and the upcoming "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover."Television miniseries and movies of the week include "From the Earth to the Moon," "Norma Jean and Marilyn" and "The Pentagon Wars" on HBO, ABC's "The Man Next Door," "Stephen King's "The Stand" and an upcoming Christmas movie of the week, "Secret Santa." Regular and recurring series roles include Principal DeWitt on "Growing Pains, " Mr. Gorpley on "Perfect Strangers," both on ABC, and the series "ER, "Pasadena, " "Live Shot" and "Boston Common." Guest-starring roles range from the Fonzie-loving doctor who delivered Phoebe's triplets on the 100th episode of "Friends" to roles in "The X Files," "Without a Trace," "Everybody Loves Raymond," the premiere episode of "CSI Miami," "The West Wing" and many more. Los Angeles theatergoers are familiar with Sam's stage appearances in such wide-ranging shows as Ronald Hardwood's "Taking Sides," which ran for 10 months at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, and "Napoli Milionaria" at the Road Theatre, which won him the 2002 Ovation Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role -- the category covering all of Los Angeles live theaters. He has also been the recipient of L.A. Weekly and Dramalogue Awards, and shared a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Ensemble for "ER." A native of both South and North Dakota, Sam holds advanced degrees in Theatre, American Literature and Creative Writing. He is presently writing a detective novel and is a member of Mystery Writers of America. Married for 18 years, he is the proud father of 11-year-old twins.
