Kyle MacLachlan David Swain on In Justice
Kyle MacLachlan stars as charismatic attorney David Swain of the National Justice Project in ABC's "In Justice." Perhaps best known for his performance as FBI Agent Dale Cooper in David Lynch's groundbreaking series, "Twin Peaks," MacLachlan received two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe Award for his role in the series. He also starred for two seasons on HBO's highly successful "Sex and the City," as Charlotte's 'ideal man,' Dr. Trey MacDougal.In film, MacLachlan recently played the role of the spirit of Cary Grant in Sony Pictures Classics' "Touch of Pink." This past December, he returned to television in the limited series, "The Librarian," produced by Dean Devlin for TNT and co-starring Noah Wyle and Bob Newhart. In the fall of 2003, MacLachlan made his Broadway debut as Aston in Harold Pinter's "The Caretaker," directed by David Jones for the Roundabout Theater Company. The play was nominated for Best Revival of a Play by the Outer Critics Circle. He made his London stage debut in 2002 in "On an Average Day" in the West End, starring with Woody Harrelson. Directed by John Crowley, the play returned MacLachlan to his theatre roots after a 14-year absence. His feature film debut came in the futuristic drama "Dune," directed by David Lynch. This was followed by a second collaboration with Lynch in the uniquely disturbing "Blue Velvet." MacLachlan starred alongside Ethan Hawke in Miramax's "Hamlet (2000), directed by Michael Almeryeda, portraying Claudius in a cast that also included Bill Murray, Julia Stiles and Sam Shepard. Other credits include Mike Figgis' experimental "Timecode," the first film of its kind, shot with four digital cameras simultaneously in one continuous 93-minute take, and another Figgis film, "One Night Stand," with Wesley Snipes and Robert Downey, Jr. MacLachlan's other film credits include starring as legendary keyboardist Ray Manzarek in "The Doors," directed by Oliver Stone and starring Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan; as Josef K in Kafka's "The Trial," adapted by Harold Pinter and starring Anthony Hopkins; "The Trigger Effect," co-starring Elizabeth Shue and Dermot Mulroney; "The Flintsones," produced by Steven Spielberg; Paul Verhoeven's controversial cult classic, "Showgirls"; Bruce Beresford's "Rich in Love," with Albert Finney and Jill Clayburgh and produced by Richard and Lili Zanuck; HBO's "Against the Wall," opposite Samuel L. Jackson and directed by the late John Frankenheimer; and the Showtime original film, "Roswell," based on the infamous 1947 UFO sighting in New Mexico. As a director, MacLachlan made his debut in 1993 with an episode of the darkly comic hit television series, "Tales from the Crypt."
