The versatile Marietta DePrima began her career as a pianist. One day, while playing piano accompaniment during an audition, she was asked to sing. Following this impromptu tryout, she went on to perform in a series of roles in Chicago's musical theater circuit, which included productions at the city's famed Goodman Theater.

Marietta developed a strong theater background. She created a role in Terrence McNally's "Up in Saratoga," played Josephine/Monica in the west coast premiere of "Romance/Romance," and made her New York debut in the Broadway revival of "Godspell." The actress also sings on the upcoming soundtrack of DreamWorks' first animated feature, "Prince of Egypt."

Her television credits include being a series regular on "Dear John," starring Judd Hirsch. She also starred in several pilots with the likes of Howie Mandel, Fred Willard and Robert Wagner, and made several guest appearances on programs such as "Party of Five."

Marietta is an avid baker and painter who enjoys watching her garden grow with her husband, actor George Newbern. The couple live in southern California with their two young daughters.
