Home Improvement Formerly Tuesdays on WCHS-TV8
Tim Taylor continues to bring his unique slant on masculinity to his role as father, husband and host of "Tool Time." Although he is beginning to feel the pangs of a mid-life crisis coming on, he is still convinced that "MORE POWER" is the ideal solution to most of life's challenges. Nowhere is this challenge more evident than in the Taylor household, where adolescence is in full throttle. When oldest son Brad starts having problems with his girlfriend, he realizes it might be better to turn his attention to playing sports and getting into college. Randy, whose relationship with Lauren continues to grow, takes up environmental and social issues. But he finds himself not always agreeing with the decisions his parents make for him and begins to question their authority. Meanwhile, youngest son Mark decides to express himself by wearing black clothing and listening to bizarre rock music. Despite the seemingly endless and unexpected curves the three brothers toss their parents' way, Tim and wife Jill are determined to raise their three hormonally charged boys into responsible adults. Jill is nearing completion of her Masters degree in psychology; and in addition to taking classes, will counsel families as part of her requirement. Next-door neighbor Wilson can still be counted on to dispense his unique brand of over-the-fence -- and sometimes over-the-top -- wisdom for any member of the Taylor family who seeks it. Tim gets more of an opportunity to be around for that guidance when Wilson inherits his father's old Studebaker, and the two spend time together fixing it up. "Tool Time," the cable television show Tim hosts, as well as the people he works with, continue to provide him with interesting yet humorous dilemmas. Trusty sidekick Al decides to start dating again now that he and his fiancee are no longer together. Heidi, the "Tool Time" girl, learns what it's like to be a working mother. Tim Allen stars as Tim, Patricia Richardson as Jill, Zachery Ty Bryan as Brad, Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Randy, Taran Smith as Mark, Earl Hindman as Wilson, Richard Karn as Al and Debbe Dunning as Heidi. Carmen Finestra, David McFadzean and Matt Williams are the executive producers and creators of the half-hour comedy series, which is from Wind Dancer Production Group in association with Touchstone Television. Bruce Ferber, Elliot Shoenman and Charlie Hauck are the executive producers. Laurie Gelman is the co-executive producer; Marley Sims and Lloyd Garver are consulting producers; and Gayle S. Maffeo is the producer. The series is produced by Alan Padula. The series premiered on September 17, 1991.
