Senait Ashenafi
Keesha Ward on General Hospital

Senait Ashenafi Combining exotic beauty with a multi-cultural upbringing and versatile talent has enabled actress Senait to achieve impressive success in several entertainment fields. In the role of spirited teenager Keesha Ward, Senait brings a universal appeal and well-traveled awareness to the character.

"I see Keesha as a hero," says Senait. "She stands up and fights for what she believes in as an individual. And she expects the same from those around her." Joining with cousin Justus (Joseph C. Phillips) and grandmother Mary Mae (Rosalind Cash), Keesha came to Port Charles to uncover the truth behind the murder of her uncle Bradley Ward, and to uphold the proud African-American history of her family. Her first airdate was June 10, 1994.

Senait (pronounced sun-NIGHT) prefers to use only her first name professionally "because my last name is SO difficult for people to pronounce!" The actress was born in Ethiopia and soon discovered an innate desire to perform. Moving with her family to the United States, Senait continued her interest in music and theater, ultimately studying at Florida State University. She also performed with the jazz band Silk before coming to Los Angeles pursuing a singing career.

A skilled dancer and model as well, Senait is featured in several prominent music videos, including Michael Jackson's "Remember the Time," and has appeared in commercials for many national companies. She also appeared as a model in more than 20 episodes of "The Price Is Right."

Prior to joining "General Hospital," Senait guest-starred in numerous television shows, including "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "A Different World," "Getting By," "The Sinbad Show" and "Generations," among many others.

Senait, whose name translates as "the peaceful one," continues to dance and sing. She also enjoys working out and reading. Senait is single and lives in Los Angeles.
