Clea Lewis
Audrey Penney on Ellen

Clea Lewis Born and raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Clea Lewis' on-screen zaniness was inspired by a somewhat Bohemian upbringing. The youngest of five children, she was raised in an enormous old home resembling, as she describes it, "the 'Addams Family' abode." Her father, a lawyer, was a young vaudeville performer with the Sunrise Happiness Kids, and her mother is a writer and peace activist.

After acting in numerous school productions and performing at the Cleveland Playhouse throughout her childhood, Clea went on to attend Brown University, where she graduated with a B.A. in theater. To enrich her curriculum, she spent her junior year abroad studying in London at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and at the London Academy of Music and Drama (LAMDA).

Moving to Chicago, Clea perfected her comic timing by studying improvisation at Second City's acclaimed training program. She also performed at the renowned Wisdom Bridge and Body Politic Theaters, among others.

After three years in the Windy City, Clea decided to get her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California at San Diego. She completed her first year there and spent the summer in Los Angeles, where work quickly came her way. She then decided to stick to acting full-time.

Clea's first break was as a regular on the television series, "Flying Blind," opposite Corey Parker and Tea Leoni. She also guest-starred in a number of series, including "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Mad About You," "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and the pilot of "Friends."

Although she has a knack for comedy and characters, Clea is also a skilled dramatic performer and has appeared in the feature films, "Diabolique," starring Sharon Stone, Isabelle Adjani and Chazz Palminteri; and "The Rich Man's Wife," starring Halle Berry and Christopher McDonald. She can next be seen in Adam Goldberg's "Scotch and Milk."

Maintaining her ties with theater, Clea has participated in the prestigious Sundance Playwright's Lab and co-starred in the Nicky Silver play, "Pterodactyls," at the South Coast Repertory Theatre.

Clea has also branched out into the world of voice-over and animation with her role as Nicki in ABC's Saturday morning series "PepperAnn," which will premiere in the Fall of 1998.

During the rare moments when she is not working, Clea enjoys feeding her friends and attending archaeology lectures.
