Joely Fisher Paige Clark on Ellen
Joely Fisher stars as Paige Clark, Ellen's spontaneous and slightly self-centered friend, whose self-indulgence and position as movie studio executive create a forum for many humorous antics on the show.Upcoming, Fisher will be seen starring with Judge Reinhold in the independent feature, "Let's Ruin Dad's Day." In 1997, Fisher starred opposite Brian Wimmer in the comedy-drama, "Jitters," a Lifetime Original Film for Television. She also received accolades for her performance in the ABC television movie, "Seduction in a Small Town," starring opposite Melissa Gilbert and Brian McNamara. In 1996, Fisher completed a guest-starring role in the acclaimed cable series, "The Outer Limits." During her 1995 hiatus from "Ellen," Fisher completed a three-month run starring in the show-stopping role of Rizzo in Tommy Tune's hit Broadway revival of the musical, "Grease," and was featured on that year's broadcast of "The Tony Awards," exhibiting her natural talent for song and dance. The daughter of singer/actress Connie Stevens and crooner Eddie Fisher, Joely Fisher was born on October 29 in Burbank, California at St. Joseph's Hospital, directly across the street from where she now works at The Walt Disney Studios. A self-acknowledged "road-baby," Fisher had traveled around the world with her mother and sister before she reached her teens. By the age of 12, she was joining her mother on stage to sing a song or two. During the Persian Gulf War, she performed with her mother and Bob Hope for the troops overseas. Shortly afterwards, she had the honor of singing before President and Mrs. Bush at an appearance at the Kennedy Center. Fisher began acting in summer stock, which later led to appearances on such series as "Growing Pains," "Equal Justice" and "Blossom." She also starred in the CBS Schoolbreak Special, "Dedicated to the One I Love," about teenagers and AIDS, and she provided the voice for the ABC animated special, "The Magic Flute," based on Mozart's immortal opera. Fisher's feature film credits include "The Mask," starring Jim Carrey, "I'll Do Anything," with Nick Nolte, and Nora Ephron's "Mixed Nuts," opposite Steve Martin. Fisher recorded, along with her mother and her sister, Tricia Leigh Fisher, the album, "Traditions . . . a Family at Christmas." Their rendition of traditional favorites was released to brisk sales and has become a staple of the holiday season's radio playlists.
