Michael Brandon Michael Brandon began his acting career on the New York stage, where he co-starred with Al Pacino in the controversial Tony-winning Broadway drama, "Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie?" He went on to co-star with Stockard Channing in "The Lady and the Clarinet" at the prestigious Long Wharf Theatre. Other theater performances include David Lodge's "The Writing Game" and David Mamet's "Speed the Plow."

In 1984 Michael went to London to star as Dempsey in the action drama series "Dempsey & Makepeace." Not only did it become one of London's most popular television programs, but he met Glynis Barber, his co-star, who later became his wife.

Michael's feature film debut was as the male lead in the hit comedy "Lovers and Other Strangers." He also starred in the critically acclaimed "The James Dean Story." Other film roles include "A Change of Seasons," with Academy Award-winners Shirley MacLaine and Anthony Hopkins; "Promises in the Dark"; "Déjà vu," opposite Vanessa Redgrave and Glynis Barber; "The Disappearance of Kevin Johnson," starring Pierce Brosnan, James Coburn and Dudley Moore; "Jennifer on My Mind," with Robert DeNiro; Dario Argento's "Four Flies on Grey Velvet"; the rock music film "FM," featuring Tom Petty; and a much talked-about cameo appearance in "Rich and Famous," starring Jacqueline Bissett. In addition he performed the starring role of Lepski in two feature films and two television movies based on the stories of James Hadley-Chase.

Michael's television credits include starring roles in more than a dozen movies, including "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom," with Maureen Stapleton and Charles Durning; Peter Medak's "Third Girl from the Left"; "Red Alert"; "Hitchhike!," co-starring Cloris Leachman; "Visitors" with Glynis Barber; "The Red Badge of Courage"; the critically acclaimed "Perfect Match" and "Comedy Company," with George Burns and Jack Albertson. Michael recently starred with Rick Schroder in the A&E movie "The Lost Battalion," and with William Hurt and Peter Weller in the feature film "The Contaminated Man." He has also guest- starred on "Ally McBeal," "The Practice" and "JAG."

As a director, Michael helmed the series "Monsters," introducing Tori Spelling, and "Dempsey & Makepeace."

The busy screen and stage actor is a scuba diver and avid skier who participates in many tournaments, including fund-raisers for organizations dedicated to the blind, deaf and disabled. He also teaches meditation in prisons in both the U.S. and U.K., and is working on his first novel.

Michael, who was born in Brooklyn and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Actor's Studio, currently resides in London with his wife and ten-year-old son.
