Geena Davis President Mackenzie Allen on Commander In Chief
Academy Award®-winner Geena Davis has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses.In 1989 Davis received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the offbeat dog trainer, Muriel Pritchett, in Lawrence Kasdan's "The Accidental Tourist," in which she starred opposite Kathleen Turner and William Hurt. She was again nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for her performance as Thelma in Ridley Scott's "Thelma and Louise," in which she co-starred with Susan Sarandon. Davis received Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress for her portrayals of a political speech writer in "Speechless," a film which she also co-produced, and as a baseball phenomenon in "A League of Their Own." She made her feature film debut starring opposite Dustin Hoffman in "Tootsie," and went on to star in such films as "The Fly," "Beetlejuice," "Earth Girls are Easy," "Quick Change," "Hero," "Angie" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight." Davis starred in the popular Columbia Picture feature film "Stuart Little," directed by Rob Minkoff, and reprised her role as Mrs. Little in the sequel, "Stuart Little 2." The films were based on E.B. White's 1945 children's book about a tiny mouse who is adopted by a human family. On television, Davis previously starred in the critically-acclaimed series "Buffalo Bill" and "Sara." She will next be seen this fall starring in the ABC drama "Commander In Chief." Davis portrays Mackenzie Allen -- a mother of three who also happens to be the Vice President of the United States -- who goes against the wishes of an incapacitated and dying president, and of her entire party, to take over the nation's highest office and become the first female "Commander-in-Chief."
