Betsy Randle
Amy Matthews on Boy Meets World

Betsy Randle photo Born in Chicago, Betsy Randle spent her formative years in the suburb of Glenview, where she attended the Wilmette schools. She graduated from New Trier, a prestigious Midwestern high school which has spawned an impressive roster of entertainment-industry talent.

Ms. Randle was cast in several of the school's lead roles during her high school years, including "Wonderful Town," "Finian's Rainbow" and "Blithe Spirit."

After high school, Betsy ventured to Lawrence, Kansas, where she studied voice and theater at the University of Kansas, performing in numerous plays -- among them, "A Streetcar Named Desire," where she portrayed Stella. She also engaged in opera, performing the lead role of Adele in "Die Fledermaus."

One of Betsy's informal singing appearances led to a most memorable professional engagement. Captivated by her stage presence when she performed at a wedding, the owner of the Chicago Bears asked her to sing the national anthem at Soldier Field during the Bears' Super Bowl victory season.

In the Windy City, Betsy studied the Meisner technique with her acting teacher, Edward Kaye Martin. She appeared in a Shakespeare showcase and numerous stage plays, including "Tribute" and "A Summer at Blue Fish Cove."

Pursued by Hollywood casting agents, Ms. Randle was flown to Los Angeles, where she soon landed guest-starring roles on such television series as "Family Ties," "Dear John," "The Hogan Family," "Paradise" and "Down Home"; and portrayed Karen, a recurring role on ABC's "Home Improvement." She also was featured in the television movie, "Guess Who's Coming for Christmas."

Betsy is currently a member of the Alliance Repertory Theater in Burbank, California, where she has performed in the Garry Williams original play, "Rain," and the Dan Castellaneta-directed "Pieces of Eight," among others. In addition, she will appear in the independent film, "Urban Mythology."

Betsy's first love is decidedly her family, which consists of husband John, a screenwriter as well as a television director and editor; and two teenage children, Jessica and Aaron. A nature lover, Betsy enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing and camping, especially with her family.
