John Callahan
Edmund Grey on All My Children

John Callahan photo John Callahan joined "All My Children" in April 1992, in the role of Edmund Grey, a dashing, world-renowned reporter. His work in this role has earned him a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Best Actor in 1996, as well as a win for the Soap Opera Award for Best Actor in 1997.

A familiar face to television audiences, Mr. Callahan came to "All My Children" from the Daytime drama "Santa Barbara," on which he played the highly charged role of Craig Hunt. In addition, he portrayed the character Eric Stavros, the playboy son of Cesar Romero, on the primetime serial "Falcon Crest" for nearly three years.

Mr. Callahan was tapped to co-host Lifetime Television's "Weddings of a Lifetime" quarterly specials with his wife, actress Eva LaRue. They also shared hosting duties in 1998 at the Miss America Pageant. He was also featured in a special episode of the ABC primetime series "Spin City," with Michael J. Fox and Barry Bostwick.

In addition to his serial work, Mr. Callahan had a recurring role on the ABC series "Our Family Honor," and made numerous guest appearances on other primetime series, including "Murder, She Wrote," "Three's Company," "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," "Fantasy Island" and "Hotel." He was also featured in the made-for-television movies "M.A.D.D." and "When She Says No." His feature film work includes an appearance in the critically acclaimed feature film "Marvin's Room," with Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep.

A native of New York City, Mr. Callahan moved west to attend the University of California, Berkeley, as a pre-law student. After working through college as a bartender and a nightclub manager, he then decided upon a career in entertainment.

Shortly afterward he landed leading roles such as Petruchio in the San Jose Repertory stage production of "The Taming of the Shrew," in "The Rainmaker" at the Berkeley Stage Company, and in "Tequila" at the Eureka Theater in San Francisco.

A sports enthusiast, Mr. Callahan is an avid golfer and softball player, participating in numerous sporting events for charity.

Mr. Callahan is married to co-star Eva LaRue. They currently reside in New Jersey with their daughter, Kaya McKenna.
