All My Children
Weekdays at 1:00 PM on WCHS-TV8

All My Children photo "All My Children," which celebrated its 31st anniversary in January of 2001, has successfully maintained its popularity and continues to be one of Daytime's most compelling dramas. "All My Children" took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, the third time the show received this top honor, having also garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. The show also received its third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series Writing. This year "All My Children" has received the Writer Guild Award and the Glaad Media Award. The show is the recipient of four 2001 Emmy Awards.

Created by Agnes Nixon, the show revolves around the lives of the residents of Pine Valley, a fictional town which closely resembles the Philadelphia Main Line. Beautiful model/actress/media mogul/cosmetics giant Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) recently struggled over the news from daughter Bianca Montomery (Eden Riegel) telling her that she is gay. The road to acceptance has not been easy. Will their love for each other be enough to sustain their relationship? There is also a new man in town and in Erica's life, Chris Stamp (Jack Scalia), who works as a Janitor for Erica's company Enchantment. Chris will prove that initial appearances can be deceiving.

Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) came to Pine Valley to live with her twin sister, Alex, who found her alive after being presumed dead since 1992. Soon thereafter the sisters learned they had a mysterious half-brother named Gabriel (Eric Dearborn). Unbeknownst to Anna her mother, Charlotte, had sent an assassin to kill her, but tragically Gillian (Esta TerBrlanhe) was killed instead. All of Pine Valley mourned, especially her husband, Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison), but has Ryan truly lost Gillian forever?

Hayley Vaughan (Kelly Ripa) and Mateo Santos (Mark Consuelos) await the arrival of their first child. The family expands even before the birth of their baby with the arrival of Mateo's younger sister, Rosa Santos (Alana De La Garza). Rosa is desperate to shed her conservative upbringing. Will Mateo be able to save her from possible dangers that may lurk when she starts hanging out with a dangerous crowd?

Brook English (Julia Barr) fought to have Dr. David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) released from prison to save her daughter Laura English (Laura Allen) from heart failure. Now that Laura is on the road to recovery, will David be able avoid going back to prison? Will Laura's new husband, Leo (Josh Duhamel), be able to love her now that she is going to live, or will his true feelings for Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Budig) be too much to remain married? How long will it take for Greenlee to give up and run into Jake Martin's (J. Eddie Peck) arms.

Tad Martin (Michael E. Night) has been arrested for the murder of the boy who was selling drugs to JR (Jesse McCartney). Dixie Martin (Cady McClain) struggles to help prove Tad's innocence. Will she also be able to save her son, or will his father Adam Chandler's (David Canary) poor judgment ruin his life? Will Adam's tactics also destroy his marriage to Liza (Marcy Walker)? "All My Children" has received more than 30 Emmy Awards and consistently distinguishes itself in the field of Daytime drama. The show has historically been committed to social issues, focusing on such topics as AIDS, abortion, teenage alcoholism, racial bias, acquaintance rape, spousal abuse, homosexuality, Reyes syndrome, Vietnam MIAs, drug abuse, the risks of motherhood over 40, safe sex, pet therapy and organ donation, among others.

High production standards add dimension, and "All My Children's" location scenes provide maximum visual excitement. Remote shoots have included the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, the New York State Correction Facility at Sing Sing, the lush Budapest countryside, the Canadian Rockies, and Negril, Jamaica. The graphic depiction of such catastrophes as a destructive tornado, a deadly plane crash and a devastating explosion at Holidays have added a richness in production value that is unparalleled in Daytime television.

Celebrity fans who have guest-starred on the program include Carol Burnett, Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Aaron Neville, Gwen Verdon, Robert Morse, Cheryl Tiegs, Maureen O'Sullivan, Dom Deluise, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Boomer Esiason, race-car driver Danny Sullivan, talk-show host Star Jones, folk music group Blessed Union of Souls, Rosie O'Donnell, R&B artist Brian McKnight, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Latin singing sensations C-Note, Elvis Crespo and pop-group BB MAK, Tito Nieves and the outrageous RuPaul.

Created by Agnes Nixon, "All My Children" premiered on the ABC Television Network on January 5, 1970, as a half-hour show; seven years later it expanded to an hour. Agnes Nixon also serves as executive head writer with Richard Culliton rounding out the head writing team. Jean Dadario Burke executive-produces, with Conal O'Brien, Casey Childs, and Angela Tessinari directing. "All My Children" is produced in New York and airs Monday-Friday (1:00-2:00 p.m., ET).
