Dr. Nancy L. Snyderman, M.D. photo Nancy L. Snyderman, M.D., combines an active surgical practice of head and neck surgery with her role as a medical correspondent for ABC News. She is a frequent contributor to "20/20" and "Good Morning America," and a substitute co-host for "GMA." She also writes monthly columns for Good Housekeeping and Health magazines.

Dr. Snyderman has reported on wide-ranging medical topics affecting both men and women. She has traveled the world and has reported from Eastern and Western Europe, Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War, Russia and Somalia. Recently acclaimed one-hour news specials include "Women & Cigarettes, A Fatal Attraction," "Drinking, Are you in Control?" and "Stress Hurts! A Wake-Up Call for Women."

Dr. Snyderman attended medical school at the University of Nebraska and followed up with residencies in pediatrics and ear, nose and throat surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

In 1983 she moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to join the surgical staff at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she began to combine her medical skills with her love of reporting. Dr. Snyderman began her broadcasting at the ABC affiliate KATV, and at the same time began filing stories for "Good Morning America." In l988 Dr. Snyderman moved to San Francisco, where she practices surgery at the California-Pacific Medical Center.

Her medical work has been widely published in peer review medical journals and she is the recipient of numerous research grants from the American Cancer Society, the Kellogg Foundation, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Her reporting has been recognized by the Associated Press, United Press International, California Medical Association and the Radio and Television News Directors Association.

Dr. Snyderman is the author of two books, "Dr. Nancy SnydermanÕs Guide to Good Health For Women Over Forty" and "Necessary Journeys." Her third book, "Girl in the Mirror: Raising Adolescent Daughters," will be published in February, 2002.

A native of St. Louis, Dr. Snyderman resides in San Francisco with her husband, Doug, and their children, Kate, Rachel and Charlie. Her passions include her five horses, skiing and hiking.
