Danny Nucci
Deputy Rico Amonte on 10-8

Danny Nucci A veteran of more than two dozen major studio and independent features and star of two major network television series, Danny Nucci's most widely seen role was as Fabrizio De Rossi, Leonardo DiCaprio's ill-fated best friend, in the highest-grossing film of all time, "Titanic."

Ironically it was another big budget "at sea" film that first garnered Nucci international attention, when he portrayed Officer Rivetti in director Tony Scott's smash "Crimson Tide." Nucci's performance as the sonar operator who teamed with the sub's Executive Officer (Denzel Washington) to stop the Captain (Gene Hackman) from launching a nuclear attack so impressed producer Jerry Bruckheimer that he immediately cast him as the Navy Seal assigned to guard Sean Connery in "The Rock."

Nucci went on to star opposite Bette Midler in the madcap "That Old Feeling," as brash paparazzo Joey Donna, and with Arnold Schwarzenegar in "Eraser," as gung-ho Special Agent Monroe. Cited by Daily Variety for his "sexy star power" in "The Big Squeeze," he also played Jesse, a simple gardener smitten by a beautiful schemer (Lara Flynn Boyle). As a small town policeman in "Homage," which debuted at Sundance, Nucci starred opposite Blythe Danner, Sheryl Lee and Frank Whaley in a chilling consideration of celebrity stalking.

"The Outfitters," which also debuted at Sundance, had Nucci portraying a luckless Mexican cowpoke saddled with a broken-down ranch, stuck in a town full of quirky characters -- none quirkier than his lovesick boyhood babysitter (Dana Delaney). In the award-winning "Unknown Cyclist," he starred opposite Leah Thompson and Vincent Spano as hard-partying Gaetano, one of four friends drawn into a grueling AIDS bike ride in memory of their mutual friend who died of the disease.

Nucci made his feature debut in "Book of Love," as Spider Bomboni, coolest in a group of clueless young buddies trying to survive adolescence in the '50s. He was sworn in as an American citizen during the filming, an achievement joyfully celebrated on the set after the ceremony. He portrayed Edward James Olmos' son in another Sundance debut indy, "Roosters," and recently starred in a sly British independent film, "American Cousins," as an on-the-lam New Jersey Mafioso trying to "blend in" with Scottish locals in Glasgow.

Nucci cites his most memorable filming experience as "Alive," directed by Frank Marshall. Shot in sequence to show the progressive starvation of survivors of a plane crash in the Andes, the movie required Nucci to gain 15 lbs before the start of filming; by the end, he was 25 lbs below his normal weight.

On television, Nucci starred in the CBS sitcom "Some of My Best Friends" and in the ABC detective drama, "Snoops," for producer David Kelley. He will soon be seen again on CBS as the title character in the MOW, "Mafia Doctor," which also stars Paul Sorvino and Olympia Dukakis.

Born in Austria, Nucci grew up in a small town outside of Venice, Italy, before moving to New York at the age of seven. His family settled in the San Fernando Valley when he was 12. His professional career began at 14, with a one-day role on "General Hospital."

In his spare time, Nucci enjoys writing music, singing and playing the saxophone, guitar, bass and keyboards.
